B. General Information
I. Scope and Processing of Personal Data
We only collect and use our users’ personal data only to the extent necessary to ensure the proper functioning of our website as well as our contents and services. We also collect personal data only if the user gives us their consent, except in cases where, for practical reasons, it is impossible to obtain the user’s prior consent and where the processing of the data is permitted under relevant legal provisions.
II. Legal Principles of the Processing
The legal basis for the processing of personal data for which we obtain the data subject’s consent is Article 6(1)(a) of the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) .
The legal basis for the processing of personal data necessary for the performance of a contract to which the data subject is a party is Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR. This also applies to processing operations necessary for the implementation of pre-contractual measures.
The legal basis for the processing of personal data necessary for compliance with a legal obligation to which our company is subject is Article 6(1)(c) of the GDPR.
If vital interests of the data subject or of another natural person make the processing of personal data necessary, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(d) of the GDPR.
If the processing is necessary to safeguard a legitimate interest of our company or of a third party and if the interests, freedoms and fundamental rights of the data subject do not override those interests, the legal basis for the processing is Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR. The legitimate interest of our company lies in the conduct of our business activities.
III. Duration of the Processing of Personal Data
We process and store the data subject’s personal data only for the period necessary to achieve the purpose of the processing and storage. Furthermore, data may also be collected if required by European or national legislation, whether in regulations, laws or other provisions of the European Union to which the data controller is subject. As soon as the purpose of the storage has been fulfilled or a retention period prescribed by the aforementioned provisions expires, the personal data is systematically blocked or deleted.
IV. Security of Your Data
When you visit our website, we use the commonly used SSL method (Secure Socket Layer) in conjunction with the highest level of encryption supported by your browser. As a rule, this is 256-bit encryption. If your browser does not support 256-bit encryption, we will use 128-bit v3 technology instead. You can tell whether a single page of our website is transmitted encrypted by the closed-form display of the key or lock symbols in the lower status bar of your browser. However, we expressly point out that data transmission online (e.g. when communicating by e-mail) may be subject to security gaps and cannot be seamlessly protected from access by third parties.
We also use appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your data against accidental or intentional manipulation, partial or complete loss, destruction or unauthorized access by third parties. Our security measures will be continuously improved and correspond to the state of the art in line with technological developments.
C. Usage Data
I. Log Files
1. Description and Scope of Data Collection
When you visit our website, we or the website provider, record data and information via an automated system. This data is stored in the server’s log files. The server log files contain anonymized data which cannot be used to identify you, but which is technically necessary for the provision and display of our content.
The following data may be collected during this process:
- Information about the type of browser and version used
- The user's operating system
- The user’s internet service provider
- The user’s IP address
- The date and time of access
- The websites from which the user’s system accesses our website (referrers).
2. Legal Basis for Data Processing
The legal basis for the temporary storage of log files is Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR.
3. Purpose of Data Processing
The temporary storage of the IP address by the system is necessary to enable access to the website on the user’s computer. For this reason, the user’s IP address must be stored for the duration of the session.
Storage in log files takes place in order to ensure the correct functioning of the website. We also need the data in order to optimize the website and to ensure the security of our IT systems. The data is not evaluated for marketing purposes in this connection.
These purposes also reflect our legitimate interest in data processing, pursuant to Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR.
4. Deletion and Duration of the Storage
The data will be deleted as soon as it is no longer necessary for the purpose of their collection.
If the data is collected for providing the website, this is the case when the respective session is terminated.
If data is stored in log files, this is done seven days afterwards at the latest. Extended storage is possible. In this case, users’ IP addresses are deleted or modified so that they can no longer be allocated to the viewing client.
5. Opportunity to Object and Remove
The collection of data for the provision of the website and the storage of data in log files is essential for the functioning of the website. Consequently, the user does not have the option to object to these recordings.
II. Cookies
We use ‘cookies’ on our website. Cookies are small text files that are stored in either the cache of your web browser for the duration of your browsing session (session cookies) or on your hard drive for a specific period (persistent cookies). Cookies enable us to recognize your web browser and, as a result, to provide you more quickly and in a more targeted manner with content tailored to your needs and preferences during your future visits to our website. This is why we use technically necessary cookies to fulfil our legitimate interest in providing a website tailored to visitors’ needs.
If we wish to use marketing, tracking or analytics cookies in addition to the required technical cookies, your express prior consent is required. These types of cookies constitute personal data. We therefore ask for your consent via the cookie banner that appears on our website when you start using it. It informs you about our cookie policy and gives you the option to refuse or give your consent to all or certain types of cookies.
If you give your consent, the legal basis for the processing of personal data is Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR.
How can I prevent the storage of cookies?
The storage of cookies that are not technically necessary requires your prior express consent.
You can also set up your browser to only allow the storage of cookies if you consent to them. You can delete any remaining cookies. By deactivating cookies, the usability of our web pages may be restricted. Information on how cookies can be deactivated can be found at the following LINK (wikihow).
We wish to give you the opportunity to make an informed decision as to whether or not you wish to allow the use of cookies that are not strictly necessary for the technical functioning of the website. Please note that if you block cookies used for advertising purposes, the advertising you receive will be less targeted and less tailored to your interests. Access to the website will, however, remain unaffected.
We distinguish between cookies that are strictly necessary for the technical functioning of the website and optional cookies.
To enable you to customize your privacy settings for your visit to our website as much as possible, we provide you with the option below to set your preferences in the categories ‘technically necessary’, ‘statistical’, and ‘marketing’.
‘Technically necessary’ category
These cookies are necessary for the website to function properly. However, without them, you will not be able to use certain features on our website.
‘Statistical’ category
In order to continuously improve our services and our website, we collect anonymized data for statistical and analytical purposes. For example, we can calculate the number of visitors and the impact of certain pages on our website in order to optimize their content.
Analytical cookies and web beacons enable us to generate general statistics (e.g. number of visits to our site, most visited pages, location data and average time spent on the site). This data helps us improve the quality of our website and its content.
‘Marketing’ category
We use marketing cookies to track the activity of visitors to our website, with the aim of displaying, or having third parties display, advertisements that are relevant and tailored to your interests.
Legal basis / revocation of consent
We use technically necessary cookies on the basis of legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Our legitimate interest is to ensure the proper functioning of our website and its optimal use.
In addition to the necessary technical cookies, we use analytics and marketing cookies based on your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). Some of the cookies we use are automatically deleted when you close your browser (so-called session cookies); others remain permanently on your device and allow us to recognize your browser (persistent cookies). You have full control over the use of cookies and can, in your browser, delete cookies, disable the storage of all cookies or select which cookies you authorize. Please use your browser's help features to learn how to change these settings. However, this may limit the functionality of our website.
You may withdraw your consent at any time without giving any reason. To do so, you can change your cookie settings and thereby withdraw your consent.
III. Social Plugins of Social Networks
Within the context of our website, we have integrated the social media platforms ‘Facebook’, ‘LinkedIn’, ‘Xing’, ‘YouTube’ and ‘Instagram’. You can recognize the link by the corresponding social media logo. By clicking on this logo, you will be taken directly to the relevant social media platform.
To ensure the best possible protection of your data, we have integrated the social media buttons on our website in such a way that a button is only activated if you click on the button displaying the logo of the relevant social media platform. A connection to the servers of the relevant social media platform is only established if the button displaying the social media logo is activated by a click. Therefore, no data is transferred simply as a result of viewing and visiting the site.
If you activate a social media button, your browser establishes a direct connection with the server of the relevant social media provider. This operator transfers the content of the link directly to your browser and integrates it into the website. The social network operator is thus informed that you have visited the corresponding page on our website. If you are logged into the social network at that time, your visit to our website may be attributed to your account. If you do not wish your visit to our site to be attributed to your social network account, you must log out of the social network before clicking on the logo/share button.
You will find further information on the purpose and extent of data collection and its processing by the plugin provider in these provider’s privacy policies listed below. You will also obtain more information about your rights in this respect and the settings you can change to protect your privacy there.

IV. Use of Facebook Insights / Instagram Insights
On our Facebook / Instagram pages, Facebook / Instagram integrates its “Facebook Insights” / “Instagram Insights” service. If, on our website, you give your consent to tracking via your “opt-in”, your data will be collected for our Facebook and Instagram fan pages. Facebook Ireland and BEGO Solutions share joint responsibility for the collection of personal data when visiting the fan pages and for the provision of statistical data to the fan page operator. The details of this are set out in the joint liability agreement, which can be viewed at the following address:
https://www.facebook.com/legal/terms/page_controller_addendum. You may exercise your rights as a data subject with Facebook Ireland and the BEGO Group.
The legal basis for the processing of personal data for statistical purposes is Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR. The processing takes place to enable a more effective advertising appearance of the BEGO Group on the Internet.
Facebook Ireland fulfils all obligations arising from the GDPR with regard to the processing of statistical data and makes the key parts of the addendum concerning the Page Insights administrator available to data subjects. The BEGO Group does not make any decisions regarding the processing of statistical data or the information required under Article 13 of the GDPR, in particular the legal basis, the identity of the data controller and the storage duration period of cookies on users’ terminals.
You can find further information on the addendum regarding the Facebook Page Statistics controller by clicking on this link.
V. Use of YouTube
We have integrated YouTube videos into our online offering which are stored on www.YouTube.com and can be played directly from our website. They are integrated into our site in ‘extended data protection mode’. In other words, as long as you do not play these videos, no data relating to you as a user will be transmitted to YouTube. The data referred to in paragraph 2 will only be transmitted to YouTube once you start playing the videos. We have no influence over this data transmission.
When you visit our website, YouTube is informed that you have accessed the relevant subpage of our website. If you are logged in to your Google account, your data will be directly attributed to your account. If you do not wish your data to be attributed to your YouTube profile, you must log out before clicking the button. YouTube stores your data as usage profiles and processes them, regardless of whether you have a Google account, for the purposes of advertising, market research and/or to tailor its website to the needs of users. Processing is carried out on the basis of Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR. Google also processes some of the data in the United States. The legal basis for the transfer to the United States is European Commission Adequacy Decision EU 2023/1795 of July 10, 2023. You can find further information on the purpose and scope of processing by YouTube and the storage period at YouTube in the privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy. You may withdraw your consent to the processing at any time by sending us a message (see contact details in the section ‘Data Controller and Data Protection Officer’) or by changing the settings in the cookie banner. The lawfulness of the processing carried out on the basis of consent up to the point of withdrawal remains unaffected.
VI. Use of Google Maps
We use Google Maps services on this website. These services enable us to display interactive maps directly on the website and ensure a user-friendly experience when using the map function.
When you visit our website, Google is informed that you have accessed the relevant subpage of our website. In addition, the data mentioned in section 3 of this policy is transmitted, regardless of whether you are logged in to your Google account or do not have a Google account. If you are logged in to your Google account, your data will be directly associated with your account. If you do not wish your data to be associated with your Google profile, you must log out before clicking the button. Google stores your data as usage profiles and uses them for advertising, market research and/or to tailor its website to the needs of internet users. Such analysis is carried out in particular (even for users who are not logged in) with a view to providing tailored advertising and to informing other users of the social network about your activities on our website. You have the right to object to the creation of these user profiles. To exercise this right, you must contact Google.
Google also processes some of the data in the United States. The legal basis for the transfer to the United States is European Commission Adequacy Decision EU 2023/1795 of July 10, 2023. You can find further information on the purpose and extent of data collection and processing by the add-on provider in the provider’s privacy policy. There you will also find detailed information on your relevant rights and settings options to protect your privacy: https://www.google.com/intl/fr/policies/privacy.
VII. Use of Script Libraries (Google Webfonts)
To ensure that our content is displayed correctly and attractively regardless of the browser used, we use the script and font libraries from Google Fonts (https://www.google.com/webfonts/) on this website. To prevent them from having to be reloaded every time you visit the website, the Google Fonts are stored in your browser’s cache. If your browser does not support Google Fonts or blocks access to them, the content will be displayed in a standard font.
The integration of Google Fonts reflects our legitimate interest in ensuring a reliable, attractive and consistent user experience on our website across all browsers. You can find the privacy policy of the Google Fonts provider here: https://www.google.com/policies/privacy/
VIII. Transfers of Personal Data to Third Countries
In cases where data is processed in third countries, the processing is carried out on the basis of the consent you have given, in accordance with Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR.
For the United States, data processing is carried out on the basis of the European Commission’s Adequacy Decision EU 2023/1795 of July 10, 2023.
The transfer of personal data to a third country and the processing of such data may also be carried out on the basis of agreements with the processor located in the third country, in particular the agreement on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses as well as the conclusion of data processing agreements.
We have agreed on the applicability of the EU Standard Contractual Clauses with the following companies: BEGO USA Inc, 24 Albion Road, Suite 103, Lincoln, RI 02865, United States.

The provision of these various means of communication reflects a legitimate interest of our company, as it offers us more opportunities to contact you. This storage is used solely to respond to the data subject’s enquiry or to establish contact with them. In this context, the data is not passed on to third parties. VI. Newsletter
1. Subscription
If you subscribe to the BEGO newsletter, the data entered in the various input fields is transmitted to the data controller. When registering for the newsletter, the user’s IP address, as well as the date and time of registration, are collected. This collection serves to prevent misuse of the services offered, or of the data subject’s email address. The data is not passed on to third parties, except in cases where data transfer is required by law. The data is used solely for the purpose of sending the newsletter. The newsletter is sent on the basis of your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
By subscribing to the newsletter, you consent to receiving newsletters tailored to your interests at your email address. Upon registration, you give the following consent:
“I hereby consent to[Name] sending me emails to the email address specified by me for the purpose of […]. I have the right to revoke this consent with effect for the future at any time. I have taken note of the privacy policy with further information on data processing.”
You may withdraw this consent at any time, with effect for the future, by unsubscribing from the newsletter. To do so, please send an email to privacy@bego.com. Once you have entered your email address and confirmed your unsubscription, your name will be automatically removed from the mailing list. You will also find the relevant link in every newsletter.
Subscription to our newsletter is based on a ‘double opt-in’ process. This means that after subscribing, you will receive an email asking you to confirm your subscription. In order to be able to prove that you have subscribed to the newsletter, we record the time (date and time) of the subscription and confirmation, as well as your IP address.
The collection for statistical purposes, the analysis and the recording of the registration process are based on legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR) in the compliant and technically flawless execution of the email dispatch.
We retain the email address you provided when subscribing to the newsletter only for as long as you remain a subscriber to the newsletter. Once you have unsubscribed from the newsletter, we will immediately delete your email address.
2. Carrier
The newsletter is sent to you via the carrier CleverReach GmbH & Co. KG, Crash Building Schafjückenweg 2, 26180 Rastede (Germany). You can view this company’s data security statement at www.cleverreach.com/en/data-security/.
The carrier may use recipients’ data in pseudonymized form – i.e. without being able to link it to a specific user – for the purpose of optimizing or improving its own services, for example, to technically optimize the sending and display of the newsletter, or for statistical purposes. However, the carrier does not use the data of our newsletter recipients to contact them or to pass the data on to third parties.
3. Performance Measurement
The newsletters contain so-called ‘web beacons’ (tracking pixels). These are files the size of a single pixel; when the newsletter is opened, they trigger a request to the server of CleverReach GmbH & Co. KG. This request initially collects technical information, such as details about your browser and operating system, as well as your IP address and the time and date of the request.
This information is then used to technically improve the services offered by analyzing the technical data or to identify target groups and their reading habits based on the locations from which the request is made (these locations can be identified via the IP address) or the time of access. Data collection for statistical purposes also allows us to determine whether newsletters have been opened and which links have been clicked. Although it is technically possible to attribute this information to specific newsletter recipients, it is not our intention, nor that of CleverReach GmbH & Co. KG, to monitor specific users. Instead, the analyses enable us to identify our users’ reading habits and adapt our content accordingly, or to send different content based on their respective interests. No user profiles are created.
VII. Links to other Websites
In order to expand our range of services, our website contains hyperlinks to other websites that are the responsibility of other providers. The privacy policies of our advertising partners specify the extent to which personal data is collected on these sites. You can recognize that you have been redirected to another site by the fact that a new window opens in your browser and a new address appears in the browser address bar.
VIII. Forwarding of Data to Third Parties
Except for the cases mentioned above, we only forward your personal data to third parties in the following specific circumstances:
- You have given your explicit consent in accordance with Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR;
- The transfer is necessary to comply with a legal obligation under Article 6(1)(c) of the GDPR;
- The transfer is necessary for the performance of a contract or pre-contractual measures pursuant to Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR;
- The processing is necessary for the purposes of our legitimate interests, in accordance with the conditions set out in Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR;
- The transfer pursuant to Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR is necessary for the establishment, exercise or defense of legal claims, unless there are grounds to consider that your legitimate interest in the non-transfer of your data prevails.
Data is not disclosed to third parties for advertising purposes.
E. Rights of Data Subjects
You have the following rights:
- The right of access to the personal data concerning you that we process, in accordance with Article 15 of the GDPR.
In particular, you may request information on the purposes of the processing, the category of personal data, the categories of recipients to whom the personal data have been or will be disclosed, the envisaged period for which the personal data will be stored, the existence of the right to request rectification, erasure of personal data, restriction of processing, or the right to object to such processing, the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, any available information regarding the source of your data where the personal data has not been collected by us, as well as the existence of automated decision-making, including profiling, pursuant to Article 22(1) and (4) of the GDPR, and, where applicable, relevant information regarding the details thereof. You have the right to ask whether personal data concerning you is transferred to a third country or to an international organization, and in this context you may request information on the appropriate safeguards, pursuant to Article 46 of the GDPR, regarding such a transfer;
- The right to the immediate rectification of inaccurate personal data and right to have personal data stored by us amended, in accordance with Article 16 of the GDPR;
- The right to delete your personal data held by us, in accordance with Article 17 of the GDPR, provided that the processing is not necessary for the exercise of the right to freedom of expression and information, to comply with a legal obligation, for reasons of public interest, or for the establishment, exercise or defense of legal claims, or for archiving purposes in the public interest, scientific or historical research purposes or statistical purposes in accordance with Article 89, paragraph 1 of the GDPR, insofar as the right in question is likely to render impossible or seriously impair the achievement of the objectives of such processing;
- The right to restriction of processing of your personal data, in accordance with Article 18 of the GDPR, insofar as you contest the accuracy of the data, where the processing is unlawful but you oppose its erasure and we no longer require the data, but you still need it for the establishment, exercise or defense of legal claims, or if you have objected to the processing pursuant to Article 21 of the GDPR; if the processing of your personal data has been restricted, such data may only be processed with your consent or for the establishment, exercise or defense of legal claims, or for the protection of the rights of another natural or legal person, or for important reasons of public interest of the Union or of a Member State, and you will be informed by the controller before the restriction on processing is lifted;
- in accordance with Article 20 of the GDPR, the right to request to receive the personal data provided to us, in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format, or for that data to be transmitted to another controller, provided that this right does not infringe upon the rights and freedoms of third parties. This right to data portability does not apply to the processing of personal data necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller;
- The right to revoke at any time any consent you have given to us in accordance with Article 7(3) of the GDPR. The consequence is that we will no longer process data based on that consent in the future;
- in accordance with Article 22 of the GDPR, the right not to be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing, including profiling, which produces legal effects concerning you or similarly significantly affects you, provided that the decision is not necessary for the conclusion or performance of a contract we have concluded with you, is authorized by Union law or the law of the Member State to which the controller is subject and which also provides for suitable measures to safeguard your rights and freedoms and your legitimate interests, or is based on your explicit consent. Such decisions may not be based on the special categories of personal data referred to in Article 9(1) of the GDPR, unless Article 9(2)(a) or (g) applies and appropriate measures to safeguard your rights and freedoms and legitimate interests are in place.
- Right to file a complaint with the French supervisory authority (Commission Nationale de l’Informatique et des Libertés - CNIL), on the website www.cnil.fr or by mail at the following address: CNIL, 3 place de Fontenoy TSA 80715, 75334 PARIS CEDEX 07, in accordance with Article 77 of the GDPR. The supervisory authority to which the complaint was filed will inform the complainant of the status and outcome of the complaint, including the possibility of seeking judicial remedy under Article 78 of the GDPR.
You may exercise your various rights by sending an email to dpo.solutions@bego.com (Data Protection Officer).
F. Right to Object
Insofar as your personal data is processed on the basis of legitimate interests pursuant to Article 6(1) (1)(e) or (f) GDPR, you have the right, under Article 21 GDPR, to object to the processing of your personal data on grounds relating to your particular situation or if the objection relates to marketing. In the latter case, you have a general right to object, which we will comply with without you having to specify a particular situation.
If you wish to exercise your right to object, simply send an email to info.solutions@bego.com (Data Protection Officer).
